Order to bring mother, who was thrown out by her daughter, back inside house;  78-year-old Sarojini waiting outside late at night

KOCHI: Fort Kochi Sub-Collector K Meera gave an order to the Maradu police to immediately bring the mother back home after her daughter locked her out. The action was taken on the complaint of 78-year-old Sarojini, wife of late Padmanabhan, Vythila Thaikudam AKG Road Kareparamp house. The order was made under the Protection and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act.

The police took Sarojini to the house at night but refused to let her inside. A group led by SI Libimon left her outside and returned. Sarojini is sitting in front of the gate late at night.

It was her daughter Jijo who locked the house a few days ago and left with the key. Ciji Prasad, the younger daughter, also did not let Sarojini stay with her. After the death of her husband in 1980, Sarojini went to work as a sweeper and built two houses on five cents of land.

The mother approached the sub-collector demanding that both the house documents be cancelled, she should be allowed to enter the house and Rs. 10,000 per month should be collected from her two kids for her living expenses.
